If you’re using another browser such as Firefox it will present options for it also. The checklist is then subdivided even further. So for instance, under Windows Systems the options include Recycle Bin, Windows Temp, Temp Folder etc. You can check and uncheck each option to tell the program if you would it scanned or not as the case may be.

Once you have chosen the option you want (you can choose just to leave them all checked and the program will scan all areas) then you simply click the scan button and the program will begins scanning the areas on your system for issues.

Scan times with Evidence Nuker are very quick and within a few minutes at most will will be prompted to go to the second tab, Results. This area give you a comprehensive break down of all the problems found on your computer by Evidence Nuker. You can look through the various area such as Clipboard, Documents History etc and get a list of each potential problem file. You can choose to delete all the problem files found or go through each area and pick which files you would like removed permanently from your computer.

Evidence Nuker has a number of other options; you can choose that the program starts when Windows starts and tell it to clean your pagefile before shutting the computer down. Also you can set up automatic scan times for once a day, week or month.

Another good feature of Evidence Nuker is the fact you can choose the level of shred you would like to apply to the files the program removes from your computer. There are 4 levels starting with Classic, the fastest option down to Guttman, which does 35 passes over the data been removed but is very slow.

Another notable feature is the fact you can exclude certain area or programs from your scans so you don’t have to be manually deleting the files around it after the scan. So if there are certain files you know are sensitive on your computer but wish to keep them from been flagged by the program you can exclude them here.

I found Evidence Nuker to be a solid evidence eraser program. It has a good feature set and the ability to do a simple auto scan, or if you wish, to be able to go in and manually delete certain files is very handy. I was a big fan of the comprehensive results you’re given and the 4 levels of shredding you can do. This is a good evidence eraser program for the both the technophobe or savvy computer user to protect their privacy with a few quick steps
